Taiwanese airline EVA Air has been given the "Best Livery" award in the Wallpaper* Design Awards 2007 held January 10.
According to Jeroen Bergmans, the Travel Editor of Wallpaper*, the reason why EVA Air won was its fun and quirky nature, unlike other airlines that, while having design and luxury, look bland and corporate.
KW Nieh, EVA Air's spokesperson said that they were delighted with the award. "Our customers love the EVA Air Hello Kitty Jet and it is gratifying to be recognized internationally as an innovative airline.” What's great about the planes is not only the Hello Kitty decals it has on its exterior, but the inside is also filled with Hello Kitty stuff, including the food which follows the same theme.
EVA Air has two Hello Kitty-themed planes. The first one goes to Fukuoka and Tokyo while the second flies from Taipei to Nogoya, Osaka, and Sendai.
