Hello Kitty® Online North America: Toys for Tots Charity Drive

Come join Hello Kitty Online North America as we collaborate to play HKO for charity! Players will have two weeks (until December 16th, 2009) to gather in game items that will translate into toy donations to Toys for Tots!

Here’s how it works:

We’ll be collecting sets of materials for your GM team to make into holiday toys for needy children, one set consists of:

• Short Sticks (x10)
• Webley Webs (x5)
• Shell (x5)
• Bramble’s Comfort (x10)

Players who trade one set or more of items will receive a Crab Plush Toy for their efforts (all items must be traded at the same time), for each set a contribution will also be made to Toys for Tots. There will be at least three opportunities to trade these items to a GM in Sanrio Harbour next to Nyoko on:

• December 14th at 5, 6, & 7 PM server time (EST).
• December 15th at 7, 8 & 9 PM server time (EST).
• December 16th at 10, 11 & 12 PM server time (EST).

*If you cannot make it to a drop off time, please PM GMPirate or GM_MorningBell to arrange a trade.

After the December 16th deadline for each set of items donated in game, will will make a contribution to Toys for Tots on behalf of the players of Hello Kitty Online North America.

Hello Kitty Online has gone live on the Philippines! Level Up!, one of the country’s leading publisher of online games opened their servers yesterday, November 11 at 15:00 (3pm) GMT +8 to throngs of excited Hello Kitty fans.

Players quickly rushed into the game and started their adventures in Hello Kitty Online.

Update on monster stats and holiday events

Hi everyone, it’s me again, Abby, writing on behalf of the Hello Kitty Online development team for our Developer Diary. I have a few updates and news to share with you.

Monster Stats/Difficulty

We’re working carefully on adjusting game difficulty in Hello Kitty Online, and I’d like to explain some changes we have already made to balance monster difficulty and rewards. First, we have improved the stat bonuses on quest reward items in Sanrio Harbour. Secondly, merchant NPCs in all major cities except Sanrio Harbour now offer more powerful items for sale. These improved quest rewards and merchant items should make it easier to face monsters in the wilderness of Sanrio Land.

Also, we’ve started working on some substantial adjustments to the stats themselves that will make things easier for everyone. It’ll take some time, but we’ll keep you updated on our progress!

SEA–HKO Players Take a Night Tour With The Tour Bus

Last Wednesday, November 4, 2009, all of the new players of Hello Kitty Online were invited to join the Tour Bus Guild for an exclusive tour of Sanrio Harbour and Florapolis.

Once everyone was inside the guild, GM-Azrael broke the news that his friend GM-Galatea has gone missing. He implored for their help to track her down. As soon as he yelled the name of the last player she was seen with, the hunt for the missing GM was on!

Players rushed to the General Goods Merchant where the first out of six witnesses of the lost GM stood. They were asked to read and solve the clues, posted in the in-game blog feature, which will point to the location of the next witness.

The journey from one place to the other was the highlight of the event. Not only were players toured around the game but they also learned a lot of in-game features that only Hello Kitty Online offers.

Everyone was successful in finding GM-Galatea! They were all rewarded with full set of equipment as a token of GM-Azrael’s gratitude for finding his missing friend.

Using the In-Game Mini-Blog Feature

Blogging about your adventures in Hello Kitty Online is one of the many fun activities you can do in the game. Did you know that you can post images of your farm and house directly into your SanrioTown blog? Here’s how:

Enter your farm or your house.

Once you are inside your farm or house, open the mini-blog editor by pressing the “F9″ key on your keyboard.

Fill out the fields. After you are finished editing your blog post, click on the green check mark button.

Voila! You have now successfully posted a picture of your farm or house into your blog!

Go ahead! Share your adventures in Hello Kitty Online with your family and friends through the SanrioTown blogs!

Hundreds Gather for Hello Kitty’s Birthday Bash

This is definitely the biggest party to hit Hello Kitty Online to date! Hundreds of players around the world flocked to London to celebrate Hello Kitty’s 35th birthday in Hello Kitty Online. It was definitely one for the books!

The festivities started with several games lead by the Game Masters. Players then participated in a massive treasure hunt that took them to specific points in London. Everyone joined in and it was an awesome spectacle to see:

Soon the clues brought them to a special treat: A giant Piñata!

The players rushed in to break it, and as soon as it cracked, they all received very special treats! Hello Kitty was also there to join the fun!

Finally, we’d like to thank everyone who became a part of this event. You’re presence has made it truly special and it wouldn’t have been this much fun without you!

Hello Kitty Celebrates 35th Anniversary in Hello Kitty Online!

Join us in the virtual party of the year, as Hello Kitty celebrates her 35th anniversary in Hello Kitty Online (HKO)!

Because the anniversary is a momentous event, we’ll be having in-game events and parties from now until November 1, her actual birthday. Players can earn limited-edition Hello Kitty birthday items by participating in the special events and playing the new minigames. A super-special surprise also awaits the players who have earned at least four of these items come November 1 itself. Parties will also be held in Paris and Florapolis during that day to celebrate the event!

Hello Kitty Celebrates her 35th Birthday!

Hello Kitty’s birthday is almost here! Starting today, Hello Kitty Online will be hosting a massive event where fans all over the world can get together with their friends to celebrate, have fun, and get limited-edition virtual items, all in preparation for the big day on November 1, 2009!

Here’s the quick version: from now until November 1, 2009, collect as many Birthday Tokens as you can. These tokens are used to redeem special limited-edition items. You need to be wearing at least 4 of these items in order to be admitted to the main event, which is Hello Kitty’s birthday party in London on November 1!

Birthday tokens
You will want to collect as many Birthday Tokens as possible. You get tokens for completing special 35th anniversary quests and by participating in social party activities. Getting tokens is easy, so get as many of these as you can and exchange them for limited-edition Hello Kitty items in the game!

Hello Kitty Birthday Items
To celebrate Hello Kitty’s 35 years of bringing cuteness to the world, Hello Kitty Online is offering in-game versions of official Sanrio merchandise! These Hello Kitty Birthday Items are collectors’ pieces, as they can only be obtained during this special event. The Party Master NPC will trade your Birthday Tokens for up to 23 limited-edition items. Alternatively, you can buy up to 22 items from the Item Mall. You need to be wearing at least 4 different Hello Kitty Birthday Items to access the main party on November 1, so get those as soon as you can! You certainly don’t want to miss out on these limited-edition items!

Special Birthday-themed quests
All the Sanrio characters are busy with preparations for the party, and they’ve decided to make special floats to celebrate Hello Kitty’s birthday. But things are far from ready, and they need your help! Travel to each of the main cities (Sanrio Harbour, Florapolis, London, Paris, Beijing). See if you can lend a hand, and your kindness might earn you some Birthday tokens!

New mini-games
This special event introduces new multiplayer mini-games unlike anything previously seen in the game. Mimic the Party Master’s actions in the Emote game, or play Bingo with other players and you could win Birthday tokens while having fun with your friends!

Piñatas
Travel through the adventure maps with your friends and you might catch a piñata or two! They’re really tough to break but, once they crack, up to ten players can loot the goodies hidden inside! The common piñatas hold much-needed Birthday tokens, and there are also special piñatas that carry limited-edition Birthday items that you won’t find anywhere else - so keep your eyes peeled!

The main event: Birthday party in London on November 1
London is the place to be on November 1, but you must get your party clothes before you can attend the hottest virtual birthday party ever! Players must be wearing at least 4 of the Hello Kitty Birthday avatar items in order to be allowed into the party. This is one party you do not want to miss – get ready for even more special events and free treats!

Hello Kitty’s birthday party in London on November 1 will have birthday decorations, Party Clowns, free items, and other special treats lined up, so come join the celebration for our beloved Hello Kitty!

Hello Kitty Online Goes to Thailand!

Hello Kitty Online (HKO) makes its way to Thailand! A collaboration between Sanrio Digital and C2 Vision, Co., Ltd., a leading PC game distributor and developer in the country, to offer Sanrio’s MMORPG to the people of Thailand. Beta testing is expected to start come the first half of 2010.

Examiner Gives Hello Kitty Online an 8/10!

Hello Kitty Online receives another positive review, this time from Examiner! Tucson Video Game Examiner Tara Foulkrod took a peek at the North American closed beta of Hello Kitty Online and she liked what she saw.

According to her review:

“The graphics are smooth, and what you would expect from the Hello Kitty world. Very detailed and very much from a fantasy world. The controls are easy to master, and the quests are relatively easy to finish. Very child friendly, and very friendly in general. I’m going to give this game an 8.0/10…”

For those who wanted to attend the Penny Arcade Expo (PAX) but weren’t able to, here are some pictures showing the official launching of Hello Kitty Online (HKO) for North America.The event was held from 4-6 September.
