June Downloads Now Available!

Hi everyone! The freebies for the month of June are already up, so do go on to the Downloads section to check these out!

June Downloads

These are just some of the cute and fun stuff you can get at the SanrioTown section for free. All you have to do is get a SanrioTown account and you can begin downloading these freebies. Don't worry: signing up is absolutely free, and downloading is just one of the many fun things you can do on SanrioTown.

We hope you'll like these new stuff!

Blog Tutorial: Advanced: Changing Your Blog Title

Blogs are meant for us to show the world who we are, what we're interested in, and just about anything and everything that we have something to say something about. What better way for us to tell our readers what our journal focuses on by telling them right off the bat what it's all about - through our personalized blog titles!

By default, the title of every SanrioTown Blog is "My Blog." However, as was said already, you can change it to make it your very own, and to tell the readers what it's all about. To do so, sign in to your SanrioTown account and then go to your blog. Click on options and you should be able to see something similar to the image below.

Changing Your Blog Title

You'll see that the Weblog Title is "My Blog." Change this to whatever title you want to call your blog. Be creative! The more unique, the better, because a good title is usually what draws people to view your blog the first time.

A special bonus: you can add a short description that will appear right below your blog title to add even more interest to your journal. All you have to do is enter it on the "Tagline" space. Again, make it creative and interesting. A good tagline would be something that describes your blog in a nutshell but at the same time makes a person interested to check out the contents of that journal.

Click on "Update Options" to save your changes. Congratulations! You've just personalized your blog name!

Blog of the Week!

Just when you think you can't find everything in a blog, along comes one that actually has all of the things you want - and more!

Pink Spunk

The author, mfly_88, is a self-confessed happy person whose approach in life is carried over in her blog, xoxo=Pink Spunk=xoxo . Her posts are all varied and interesting, making the reader come back for more of her writings.

Aside from her "The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya " entries (she admits to be into "Haruiism"), she also created different categories for her entries: anime, fashion, music (she uploads mp3s on her blogs), fun quizzes, videos, Hello Kitty, and Sanrio. Her posts aren't impersonal narrations about the stuff she's featuring, but are a commentary on what she thinks of these, so you get to know more about that person, as well as on what she's talking about. Adding to that are her promised entries on her travels. She even has a wishlist of the items she wants to have, including Hello Kitty electric fans.:D

You can view her blog by clicking on the image or the blog name.

DreamStudio Video of the Week!

It's really quite rainy here right now, and this week's featured video is quite perfect for the weather - or for any other, for that matter.:p

The pick this week is shazhu_rain's stray birds video, a very beautiful video that combines poetry and imagery to create a stunning effect. The text is dramatic but is offset (in a good way) by the colorful images that go along with it, adding flavor to the already meaningful content of the video. The music used further adds a lighter tone to it, making the viewer appreciate it because of the different levels of emotions it evokes.

Focus on: XO Cave Adventure

XO Cave Adventure is the latest in the arsenal of games that can be played in SanrioTown.

Being the adventurous little penguin that Badtz Maru is, he goes on an Antarctic cave exploration trip, and it's up to you to guide him through it!

XO Cave Adventure Welcome

Aside from the cave's stalactites and stalagmites, some creepy-crawly creatures are also in the way to keep XO from having a smooth flight. Not to worry though, XO has his weapon of choice: his handy flashlight! Left-click to turn it on and make the cave dwellers disappear.

XO Cave Adventure flashlight

Badtz Maru can have a maximum of three flashlights, and can replenish his supply by collecting the ones on his way. Aside from these, he can also collect hearts (a maximum of five), which indicates the number of times he can be hit. There are also stars that boost a player's score by 100 points for each one collected.

XO Cave Adventure

The game is action/adventure, something that people of all ages would just love to play. Guiding a flying Badtz Maru who wears a red cape is a special bonus as well.:D

Blog Tutorial: Advanced: Digg and Del.icio.us

Anyone ever wondered what these buttons are doing on the SanrioTown blogs?

Wonder no more! Today's tutorial will discuss what these do, and how they help bring people to your blog.

Digg and del.icio.us are actually two websites that keep track of blog and blog entries. These are actually a bit like Technorati, in that these potentially could increase the number of visitors going to your blog. The difference between these two is that Digg notes specific blog entries while del.icio.us tracks down the whole blogs.

How do you use these? First of all, you have to have an account for these two sites. Don't worry, registration is free, so there's no need to fret about whether or not you have to pay to enjoy these features.

Digg reads the posts that you, well, digg as news articles, and that's how it classifies them under. You can also create a short description of that blog entry there, as well as assign it under the categories that can be found on the site. Digg then automatically saves it on their system, and if users find your post interesting, they'll also digg it. Keep in mind: most of the highly dugg entries are good ones, so be sure to make your posts as interesting and as informative if you want these to have high rankings.

Del.icio.us, on the other hand, installs a toolbar on your Internet browser, so if you find an interesting blog entry that you really like, you can add it to the site's system simply by clicking on the button.

We hope that helped!

SanrioTown Blog of the Week!

Cats and kittens aren't the only ones who enjoy playing with yarn. This week's blog entry shows that some Hello Kitty fans also have a fascination for fabrics - in knitting, of course!

Knittin' with the Kitten, owned and maintained by deannac, a self-confessed Hello Kitty and knitting fan. She talks about her projects and her weapon of choice in tackling these: that's right, Hello Kitty knitting needles!

Knittin

As she herself said, Hello Kitty and knitting go together like "peanut butter and jelly, cornflakes and milk..." And, as she points out, a lot of knitters are actually Hello Kitty fans. Ever noticed how, in a crafts shop, a lot of patterns (and not only for knitting) are patterned after our London-bred White lass?

Know more knitting adventures by clicking on the blog title or the image above.

DreamStudio Video of the Week!

Cat lovers will absolutely adore this week's featured DreamStudio video.

"The Cats Meow," made by katherine_xo, features two really cute black-and-white cats (Oreo and Jessie) in adorable poses, with funny captions in some of the slides. A special bonus of the video is the song that goes along with it, which is really fun and upbeat, perfect for the light tone that the cat pictures provided.

Click on the video's title to watch it if you can't see it above and see who makes a special cameo appearance at the end of the video.:D

Why did the frog cross the field and the pond? To get to the other side, of course!

Help KeroKeroKeroppi reach the other side of the pond by guiding him across obstacles, including Den Den and making him jump across lily pads. Reach the five red flowers at the end and move up to a new level each time you complete it.

Blog Tutorial: Advanced: Tagging Your Blog Entries

If you want to add activity in your blog, like having more people visiting your blog and commenting to your entries, you can opt to add Technorati tags to your posts to make them pay more attention to your journal.

What Technorati does is that it categorizes blogs according to category. The "tags" are actually keywords that users set to identify what their post entries are about. When certain words are set as "tags," this would automatically be read and classified by Technorati so that when someone searches for that topic you categorized your entry into, your blog should be listed down there.

Please note: as in previous entries dealing with codes, please remove the spaces between the brackets, otherwise, these wouldn't register.

To create tags, switch to HTML/Code first. You can opt to write down your entry before or after you put in the codes, but what happens is that the codes that are listed below should be put at the very bottom or top of your post to make it neat. Then, enter:

< a href="http://technorati.com/tag/[tagname]" rel="tag" >[tagname]< /a >

Replace [tagname] with the keyword that you want to use. For example, if I wanted to use "sanrio" as my tag, the code should appear like this:

< a href="http://technorati.com/tag/sanrio”" rel="tag" >sanrio< /a >

If you want to use a tag that has more than one word, just add the following code:

< a href="http://technorati.com/tag/[tagname]+[tagname]" rel="tag" >[tagname tagname]< /a >

Again, just replace the [tagname] with the tag you want to use. For example, if you want to use "Hello Kitty" as your tag, just enter the following:

< a href="http://technorati.com/tag/hello+kitty" rel="tag" >[hello kitty]< /a >

Don't forget to put in the "+" sign between the words on the first section, otherwise, it will register differently.

If you want to use more than one tag in your post, just enter the code that's similar to what's posted below:

< a href="http://technorati.com/tag/[tagname1] >[tagname1]< /a >, < a href="http://technorati.com/tag/[tagname2]" >[tagname2]< /a >, < a href="http://technorati.com/tag/[tagname3]" >[tagname3]< /a >

The above code works for three tags, but you can add as many as you want.

Don't forget to make your tags relevant to your topic!

Blog of the Week!

The penguin who wants to be the boss of everything is again on the spotlight with this week's blog feature.

"Sunny Side Up" is a blog owned and maintained by iheartbadtz (notice how her name's a dead giveaway of her favorite character?:p). Aside from her animated banner featuring our favorite mischievous penguin, her entries are also filled with images of Badtz-Maru that would make XO fans want to visit the blog.

Aside from the Badtz-Maru features, she also uploads her own short stories and some online quizzes that are really quite fun to answer.

DreamStudio Video of the Week!

For the dog lovers out there, this week's featured video is a treat for you!

We have lourdesolmedo's "Because of... Shih Tzu" video taking center stage as our DreamStudio Video of the Week. As the title says, the presentation is all about one specific kind from the canine world: the Shih Tzu! The creator put in a lot of cute images of this breed of dog. What makes it really interesting is that it doesn't only show pictures of different Shih Tzus, there are funny captions that perfectly match the images they're attached to.

Why the SanrioTown Blogs Went Into Downtime

Hello everyone.:) As you probably know by now, the Sanriotown blogs have been down for a few days. The reason for that is we merged the servers so that your blog URLs wouldn't be as confusing (notice that the "S1/S2/S3" part of your address is gone now?)

There are still some kinks we're fixing right now, so please be patient with us about this, and we're terribly sorry for any inconvenience we've caused you.

For more information about this, you can check out Ishida's blog to read more about it.

Thanks!

Major Change in SanrioTown Blogs

Hi everyone! Be prepared for a major change on your SanrioTown Blog! It's going to be huge because it will make things really easier for you and your friends (URL-wise), and we're hoping you guys will like it too.

However, to make the renovation, we will have to keep the blogs from public view for a few days, more specifically, from May 7-9 (Hong Kong time). That means that you will not be able to access your blogs during this period. Don't worry: everything you've already put in your blog won't be deleted or moved. It's still going to be there come May 10, along with a surprise.:D

Thanks for choosing SanrioTown as your blog provider! Rest assured that we're doing these changes for you and we're constantly looking for ways to improve our services, even in our Beta form.

DreamStudio Video of the Week!

All of us love to make and keep friends. Our featured DreamStudio video this week focuses on that, and who better can show us what friendship means than the kitty whose motto in life revolves around this?

Sasukegirl's "Friendship Wonders" revolves around the beauty of having friends in a person's life. As she described it, there are wonders that await a person in his/her adventures with friends. It shows how we can appreciate them more, and, with the aid of Hello Kitty (and special cameo appearances of our favorite ninjas), it also presents how we can find buddies in even the most unlikely places.

If you can't view the video below, click on its title to be able to watch it.

Blog of the Week!

Ever wondered how students in Asia are? With wing's blog, you will be able to read a Chinese girl's accounts of her life in school. She also has stories to tell about her friends, Hello Kitty, and all her other interests. Cute animated images round up the entire look of the blog, adding visual delight to the already good content of her entries.

You can view the blog by clicking on her name or on the image above.
